I have had anorexia for 2 years now, still do. I used to be in recovery and see doctors etc but stopped going. I do want to recover eventually, just not yet. Anyway, when I do recover, I would really like to help those with eating disorders. Am I technically allowed? Assuming I’m completely recovered?

Say, one is nervous of LOSING excess weight, and eats a lot?
I would say the opposite of Anorexia nervosa, but that sounds stupid.

I see a lot people address anorexia and bulimia but they don’t take binge eating disorder as seriously. In my eyes it is all the same (and I’ve suffered from all three of these). It has more to do with a dissatisfaction with oneself and an abuse of your body and/or food to remedy this feeling. So why are some eating disorder given more attention than others?
jakesmom: I think binge eating disorder effects a lot of people. If this weren’t the case, than the US wouldn’t be suffering an obesity epidemic.

Ever wonder this? Obviously anorexia nervosa is a recognized mental disorder that can lead to death. But, why isn’t extreme bodybuilding? You know where men take steroids and looking so unaturally buff and extremely unhealthy. I mean obviously anorexia nervosa and exteme bodybuilding are caused by emotional, biological, and environmental factors. But I just don’t understand why extreme body building isn’t considered a mental disorder? Is it because you don’t have a chance of dying, unlike anorexia?
