Question About Anorexia Recovery And Weight Gain?
Posted by: Alan in Anorexia Recovery Diet, tags: About, Anorexia, Gain, Question, Recovery, Weight
I just started a partial hospitalization program to recover from anorexia and i really need to gain some weight. (I am 17, 5′4 and 80lbs, but i have never weighed past 87lbs in my life- i guess i just grew and never gained weight). Anyways, i’m not sure how much weight i will have to gain before i get out of this program and can go back to school, but im thinking maybe like 15-20. My fears are, the other girls who are further along in the program have to eat soooo much food. The dietician said it’s because that once your metabolism gets going again, it goes into overdrive. So im concerned about having to eat that much just because i dont think my stomach can handle it. I am on a lower calorie plan to start, but even now, my stomach hurts and i get really bad gas after i eat my meals there. Will this improve? Also, if i gained the weight, will it be evenly distributed? Will my breasts still grow? I also hope to do a little strength training once i get out of the program, but for now im not supposed to be exercising. Is this ok too?
Sorry for all the quesitons. Thanks for your time

you need to focus oh healing your stomach and and learning the real way to eat healthy. If you are really committed to doing this then a raw food diet is the best way. Exercising is so important but maybe its best not to at first. I would be very very very skeptical about the food they provide for you in treatment. It’s more then likely they are just trying to fatten you up with garbage food which will not help you! You should be eating lots of organic fruit, sprouted seeds and tons of green vegetables all raw to provide you with extra nutrition. Raw food is easier to digest. The world has a warped view on whats healthy eating and you need to make sure you are going down the right path.
Food is wonderful dont be scared about it because if you are truly healthy you wont be fat and you wont ever have to worry about getting fat. Just have balance and lots of fresh food. Your body knows how to heal itself …you just have to give it the proper tools.

1) Yup. You’ll go back to normal in a few weeks.
2) It really depends on you. Just eat the right foods, and if it isn’t, just work out those places
3) Maybe. Some girls stop developing at 21, and some at 15. When I got fatter, my boobs got bigger.
4) Yeah. Just don’t overdo it.

The dietican knows how much food is okay for you. Don’t worry you are in very good hands. Um I think your breasts will grow with the nutrients you begin to take in. Tell the dietican about your gas and your stomach disturbances. Maybe then she or he will put you on an alternative meal plan. I have (had) anorexia and ive never been in recovery so um i really dont know about steps ppl take but just talk to your dietican about your meals if they bother you becuz of your gas.

if u want to gain weight eat the right food and eat a lot of it.Your stomach will hurt because its not used to this much food. I would eat chicken, apples, spinach, and drink lots of milk. If your breasts stopped growing they probably wont grow that much more.
I am bulimic rite now, so i know how u feel.Your lucky that you didn’t die. Anorexia can kill you. I am bulimic because i want to die 13 years is enough for me. My parents don’t know thati am 80 pounds and i’m not going to tell them.
